The Warriors field hockey team worked hard all year to prepare for a challenging schedule, and their dedication paid off. The team has officially wrapped up its 2025 season with a 6-7 overall record. One of the season’s high points came with a 4-0 win over the Hathaway Brown Blazers on October 14.
Senior captain Caitlin Sweeney said, “the team has made great improvements and is playing even better than our previous years.”
Sweeney, who has played all four years of her high-school career, recently celebrated Senior Night alongside teammates Mia Ondak, Morgan, Josie, and Allison. Reflecting on her time with the program, she recalled that her favorite memory was “our 2-game trip to Toledo when the bus broke down and we were left stranded.” Despite the hurdle, she said the team’s resilience helped them “find the positive in every situation.”
Senior captain Mia Ondak added, “my favorite memory was beating HB for the first time in Walsh Jesuit field hockey history with a score of 2-1.” She explained, “the team was so excited to be a part of history, and she was glad she got to experience such an exciting game before graduating from Walsh.”

Teammate Josie Bagne echoed that sense of pride. “The team really progressed throughout the year, learning how to work together and communicate efficiently,” she said. “Our six-seven record may not be impressive, but that’s because it doesn’t show who we are as a team. Our record is not what defines us in my eyes; instead, I see the integrity and resilience that my teammates and I bring onto the field every game, no matter the circumstance.”
Junior Katherine Rudar shared, “This is my first year playing, and the seniors have taught us everything about the game, from positions to the rules.” Rudar added, “They’re really competitive and lead by example. They play hard in every practice to get the new players ready for the upcoming games.”
Finally, Allison Walter added her own touch of humor and gratitude. When asked about the team’s chances of making it to states, she replied, “never say never, but definitely not.” While realistic about the outcome, she reflected on her appreciation for the journey: “I’m just so grateful I got to be a part of the team for four years and play the sport I love with all of my best friends.”
