Our JRS Club recently partnered with the Akron Catholic Worker and has been sending volunteers twice a week to tutor kids ages 6-12 whose families are waiting for an asylum hearing. We threw a Halloween party this week too!
Also, WJ students took a bus with St. Ignatius High School for 4 days to DC for the Ignatian Family Teach In coordinated by the Ignatian Solidarity Network. Our students joined over 2000 high school and college students from Catholic and Jesuit schools all over the US and Canada to learn about various social justice issues. The final day included meeting with reps from Senators Brown and Vance’s offices to advocate for more humane immigration policies and climate justice.

Thank you for these great story leads! We will be sure to share these at our next meeting when we pitch ideas for the next edition. Much appreciated!

It’s a little late but next year or at the end of this year maybe you could do an article about final exams. Specifically their purpose and how they affect the mental health of students.

Perhaps you could write about the French and Chinese Honor’s Induction coming up on Thursday, March 12th. Also, the French classes would love to share our Musique Manie de Mars/March Madness music bracket with the school. Please feel free to reach out to me about either of these events.

It would be great if an article could be published about the WJ Automotive Club before the year was over with, as the majority of our members are seniors and will be leaving, it would be great to get the word out there to any other car enthusiasts who may want to join and let them know what it’s all about! Plus, we wouldn’t want our two or three younger classmates to be too lonely next year, now would we?

Many parents at a recent Walsh gathering did not realize the Pioneer was on the Walsh Jesuit website. I would suggest more visibility to the Walsh community. Maybe easier access. I know a lot of effort goes into the Pioneer. It would be a shame if it is not reaching the Walsh community as the physical Pioneer did. Thank you.

The pioneer should do more people of the month. I liked the artist of the month article. The pioneer should include things like athlete of the month, Person for others for the month, etc.

One more article: The World Union of Jesuit Alumni is meeting for the first time ever in the US—at John Carroll! (How can we involve students?)

Please consider a story about the “1521 Club” and promoting all vocations to religious life (women and men), the priesthood, the diaconate, and others. Many of us would be happy to share our stories–especially when the novices come for Long Experiment January-April.
Thank you!
