Taraba fights for a jump ball against Strongsville on December 22, 2021.

She’s a scorer and a huge threat on the boards with 10.3 points per game and 8.0 rebounds per game. Meet senior forward Megan Taraba.

“On top of tons of skill and points, Megan brings energy that is beyond essential to the team,” stated senior teammate Reaghan Norton.

At 5’9,” Taraba, one of four seniors on the team, not only plays the post, but she also plays every other position. For this year especially, Taraba is being asked to play minutes at the point guard position, which shows just how versatile she is. Although this presents a challenge because of lack of experience, Taraba is very open to doing whatever necessary to help her team win.

“I just try to be there for my team no matter what. When things are going good, I am very energetic, and when they are bad, I try to keep that same energy. This year I’m being asked to play a little point guard and, although I’m not too fond of the idea, I just want to help my team, so I’ll do it,” said Taraba.

Megan Taraba’s talent on the court is matched by her camaraderie in the locker room. Her peers say that she can always make them laugh and is a great leader on the court. “Megan inspires me every day just to show up and work hard. She doesn’t complain or worry; she just comes to practices and games focused. She has left her mark on all of us here,” said Maddie Parker, a sophomore guard.

“Megan is an all around great player. She knows the ins and outs of basketball. I look to give her the ball any time during the game and ask her to do challenging tasks because I know she can handle it. She’s especially good at getting in the paint, drawing fouls, and getting layups. It’s hard to find players like Megan, and I’m so lucky and grateful that she is part of our team,” said head coach Chris Esterak.

Taraba looks to have a big senior year and hopes to finish out her career on a high note. Her ability will be put on display with Walsh Jesuit’s challenging schedule.

“Megan is going to help us get where we want to be, and that is the playoffs in March,” said junior guard Taylor Angielski.
