After finishing our chicken wing showdown in the last edition, we knew we had to come back for another food review. At the end of that article (linked below, look for the basket of wings!), we hinted that burgers might be next. So, after plenty of debate, we decided it was finally time to settle the question: who actually has the best burger in town?
Instead of reviewing traditional fast-food burgers or sit-down restaurant burgers, we focused on fast-casual burger spots. These are known for fresh, made-to-order meals. When people are craving a burger, the conversation usually comes down to a few local favorites: Culver’s, BurgerFi, Five Guys, and Retro Burger. Each restaurant has built a strong reputation for something different. Some are known for buttery burgers and crispy edges, while others focus on fresh toppings, signature sauces, or massive portions.
To find the winner, we visited all four restaurants and judged them based on flavor, texture, freshness, presentation, and overall experience. Some burgers impressed us immediately. Others slowly grew on us after a few bites. By the end of the review, however, one restaurant clearly separated itself from the competition.
Culver’s
Culver’s kicked off the burger showdown with its famous Double ButterBurger. Right away, the burger stood out because of its buttery flavor and crispy edges. It was greasy at first touch, but after the first bite, the flavor balanced out nicely.
The texture carried the burger. The crispy edges of the patty melted with the soft cheese, creating a satisfying balance of crunch and tenderness. The burger felt classic and simple, but it still delivered enough flavor to make a strong first impression.
Culver’s set a solid opening standard for the rest of the restaurants and earned a 7.9 out of 10.
BurgerFi
After Culver’s established the baseline, BurgerFi immediately raised the level of competition.
From the moment the burger arrived, the presentation stood out. The restaurant’s logo, branded directly onto the bun, gave the burger a unique look before we even took the first bite. Once we did, the freshness of the ingredients immediately stood out.
The burger itself was juicy, well-seasoned, and packed with flavor. The soft bun paired perfectly with the seasoned patty, while the famous BurgerFi sauce added extra flavor without overpowering the burger. Everything tasted fresh, balanced, and intentional.
By the end of the meal, BurgerFi had easily moved near the top of the rankings. It earned a strong 9 out of 10.
Five Guys
Next up was Five Guys, one of the most recognizable burger chains in the country. Known for huge portions of fries and greasy burgers loaded with toppings, Five Guys delivered exactly the kind of experience we expected.

The cheeseburger immediately stood out for how well its ingredients blended. The melted cheese mixed perfectly with the burger patty, creating a rich flavor that stayed consistent from the first bite to the last. The burger was messy in the best possible way, packed with juices and flavor throughout our meal. One of Five Guys’ biggest strengths was its consistency. Even after multiple visits over the years, the quality and flavor remain almost exactly the same, every time.
Five Guys earned an impressive 8.9 out of 10 and kept the competition extremely close heading into the final restaurant.
Retro Burger
The final stop of the burger review was Retro Burger, a newer restaurant that has quickly become one of the most talked-about burger spots in the area. After hearing so much about it, expectations were high going in. For the review, we ordered a double cheeseburger topped with bacon, lettuce, tomato, and Retro sauce. From the second the burger arrived at the table, it looked different from the competition. The presentation felt cleaner, fresher, and more put-together.
After the first bite, it became obvious why Retro Burger has developed such a loyal following. The Retro sauce tied the entire burger together and elevated the flavor to another level. The bacon added crunch, the toppings tasted fresh, and every ingredient worked together without overpowering the burger itself.

Of the four restaurants, Retro Burger delivered the strongest combination of flavor, freshness, and overall experience. It earned an impressive 9.8 out of 10 and finished as the clear winner of the showdown.
Final Verdict
All four restaurants brought something different to the table. Culver’s impressed with its buttery flavor and crispy texture. BurgerFi stood out because of its freshness and presentation. Five Guys once again proved why it remains one of the most reliable burger chains around. In the end, though, Retro Burger separated itself from the competition. Between the fresh ingredients, the Retro sauce, and the overall experience, it delivered the most complete burger of the four restaurants reviewed.
After trying every burger in the showdown, one conclusion stood above the rest: once you try Retro Burger, every other burger starts to feel like second place.
