WJ’s men’s varsity team competed at the State of Ohio Division I Golf Tournament, placing fifth overall, while senior veteran Zak Supelak earned All-Ohio Honors. This marked Supelak’s first time to receive the prestigious award which went to only three Northeast Ohio golfers. The event  was played at The Ohio State University’s Scarlet Course.

The members of the men’s state golf team included Zak Supelak and fellow seniors Conner Evans, Johns Burns, and Brennen Komos, along with freshman Colton Levey. They shot a team score of 314. Zak recorded a 76 and to take ninth place individually.

The weather for the tournament was not the best. Conditions consisted of temperatures between 40-45 and wind from 10-20 mph. It was supposed to be a three-day event but, due to the unfavorable weather, it ended after only two days.

The usual three-day event was scheduled to include a practice round on Friday, the first time through the course on Saturday, and the final round on Sunday. The scores from Saturday and Sunday would have been added up to make a combined score with the lowest score winning.

The Friday event was cancelled due to heavy rainfall, forcing the practice round to occur on Saturday, and leaving Sunday as the only day of scoring. Despite the setback, a few golfers said that the delay had little to no affect on them.
